Auction Orbit - Information About The New Site

Auction Orbit is the new home of the previous site known as Volcanic Software, and this page will briefly summarize why the change took place and what the benefits of the new site and name include! Starting off, I am still the developer of Dominant Ad Creator, but since my products and content on the previous site were almost entirely auction-oriented, I decided it was time for a name change! I wanted to select a name that would instantly signify to people what they could expect to find on the site. After lots of research and head-scratching, I came up with the name, Auction Orbit.

Along with the name-change, came a new site design. If you recall, the previous Volcanic Software site had virtually no design to it what-so-ever. It was simply there so people could find information out about Dominant Ad Creator, or other auction-related material. I never took the time in the past to develop a nice and user-friendly site, but now I finally have one! There's quite a history along with the site design as well:

I originally began designing this site six or seven months ago (before I even knew the title). After perhaps 90% completion, I decided the layout simply wasn't effective for navigation - so I discarded the whole plan. Roughly four months ago I decided to start designing a new site again, where by then I had decided upon a title. I started from scratch once more, and got it virtually done perhaps two months ago. Well, it was easy to navigate and looked pretty nice, but I was still not satisfied with it. The major problem was that I had virtually no room to enter actual content, and when I did the site just looked really cluttered. It actually made me uncomfortable to work with, and thus I put it aside. Approximately one week later, I actually sketched out how I wanted the site to look. Starting fresh again, I created the site you now see!

I feel very comfortable working with this site, as it is clean and gives me plenty of room to type whatever I need to. I also spent many hours checking the site to ensure it looks fine in a multitude of browsers and resolutions. Some of the new features I have or will soon implement include:

  • A collection of free resources, each reviewed and rated by myself
  • A list of free or shareware tools and utilities to enhance your auction experience
  • The latest auction news and information
  • My own personal (extra) articles and content that does not fit elsewhere
  • Step-by-step tutorials covering a variety of topics
  • A community forum and chat for discussing all types of material
  • Much, much more!

Hopefully you too will find this site a pleasure to explore, and with all luck you will learn a thing or two while here! I'm always open to suggestions, feel free to contact me via the forums or contact page.
