Dominant Ad Creator - Using Sidebars

Due to the way Dominant Ad Creator is designed, the current templates available are almost all formatted in their own design and are not well compatible with the use of Sidebar backgrounds in your ads. However, there are several templates that do work with minimal extra work required. Below are the basic instructions and code needed to use a sidebar in your ads.

1.) First, select from either template 03.tpt or 04.tpt to use in your ad via the Preferences window. When selected, click OK to close the preferences window.

2.) Now that the template is selected, we will link to the background sidebar we wish to use. To do that, click on the Customize Template button or press the F3 button. Once there, enter the image address of the background you wish to use. For this example, I will use: http://www.auctionorbit.com/images/tutorials/side_bar/bg.gif. When done customizing the template, click OK.

3.) Now that our template is setup and configured, we can get on with the description. To ensure that your text stays on the right side of the border, we need to paste in a small bit of HTML code into the top of the description field. Copy and paste the following code into the Description field of Dominant Ad Creator.

<table width=760 border=0><tr><td width=95></td><td width=640>

The two numbers in the code above displayed in RED represent numbers that you should change to best fit your sidebar background. The number 740 is how many pixels total the area your text can be inserted. The 95 represents how many pixels from the left of the screen you wish your text to skip before starting. In this example, the approximate width of the sidebar image that I do not wish text to appear on is 78 pixels. For this reason, I selected 95 to provide a bit of a spacing between the text and border.

4.) Now finish the description as usual.
